Sustainability involves development that meets the needs of current generations without compromising the opportunities of future generations! This core statement from the Brundtland Report of 1987 is more relevant today than ever. Thomas-Krenn.AG is also always looking to improve its sustainability. But what does this look like for an IT company? Servers aren't grown on organic farms, unfortunately. Nevertheless, we do our part as a responsible participant of society and therefore orient ourselves on the "Three Pillars of Sustainability".

The Three Pillars of Sustainability

The “Three Pillars of Sustainability” take a holistic approach that goes far beyond traditional environmental protection. The focus is on

Economy	Ecology	Social
To operate sustainably, maximum profit must be achieved while minimizing resource use.	Ecology refers to traditional environmental protection: conserving resources, reducing waste, using renewable raw materials, and much more.	The “human resource” is also important. The focus is, among other things, on equal opportunity and meeting basic needs.
Thomas-Krenn.AG is investing in the development and certification of sustainable IT products that are extremely energy-efficient	The new building will meet the highest ecological standards. However, the quality managers are already implementing sustainable projects internally.	At Thomas-Krenn, needs-based human resources management is just as much a standard practice as supporting social work.
Our Commitment: Blue Angel: Some of our products are certified with the Blue Angel label. LES: Our fanless Low Energy Servers are not only extremely energy-efficient but also silent. Green IT: Read all about our initiatives for sustainable IT here.	Our Commitment: Solar Power System: We generate our electricity from solar energy. Use of Waste Heat: We heat our production facility using waste heat from the server center. Waste Reduction: Invoices, orders, etc., are printed only upon customer request, and our packaging material is made from cornstarch. LED: All workstations have been equipped with LED monitors.	Our Commitment: Health: Health days on various topics Company Bikes: Every employee can lease a bicycle or e-bike at extremely favorable terms. Great Place to Work: Thomas-Krenn AG was recognized for, among other things, its sense of community and team spirit. Social Engagement: Donations to social projects instead of Christmas greetings

Sustainable Business Practices in Accordance with ISO Standards

Thomas-Krenn AG is already very active in the area of environmental protection within the company. Plans for the future are already underway. Especially in connection with the new building, sustainable projects are to be standard from the very beginning:

Use of sustainable building materials
Installation of electric vehicle charging stations
Sustainable equipment

Another milestone was the company’s certification according to the DIN EN ISO 14001 standard in July 2022. With this certification, Thomas-Krenn.AG lays the foundation for meeting globally recognized requirements for an environmental management system. This means the company commits not only to ensuring resource-efficient manufacturing but also to considering the entire life cycle of a product. This cycle extends from sustainable raw material extraction through balanced manufacturing and energy efficiency during the product’s service life to environmentally responsible disposal or recycling.
