SharePoint Online is a cloud-based service that allows companies to manage, store and share content and documents in their internal communications on an intranet or as a file repository for the team. SharePoint allows users to quickly search and share information – thereby supporting enterprise-wide collaboration and strengthening teamwork among employees. SharePoint works entirely through the web browser, so you can easily access it from a Windows computer or from a Mac. A mobile app for Android and iOS is also available.
Create files with SharePoint Online, upload them and edit the documents together. You can also work offline and synchronize SharePoint with OneDrive. Another feature of the software is tracking, which allows you to view the version history of documents and receive change notifications. In addition, data can be easily filtered and sorted, allowing you to further optimize your team workflows with SharePoint Online.
Microsoft SharePoint is available as a standalone cloud product in both SharePoint Online Plan 1 and SharePoint Online Plan 2 editions. With both versions, SharePoint includes OneDrive as online storage, with Microsoft providing 1 TB per user in Plan 1 and unlimited personal online storage in Plan 2. This enables you to move and manage files between OneDrive and SharePoint.
In addition to the features of the basic version, SharePoint Online Plan 2 offers advanced data loss prevention (DLP) capabilities to detect, monitor and protect sensitive information. In-situ retention allows content to be archived before it is deleted or edited. SharePoint Online is also included as part of the subscription models in Microsoft 365 Business licenses and Office 365 licenses. With these subscriptions, content can also be searched for according to corporate resources in Microsoft 365 and audit policies can be complied with via eDiscovery.
First, go to www.office.com and select the SharePoint Online app. This allows you to easily access your groups. You can also save the login page directly as a bookmark in your browser.
