VMware vSAN turns server-based storage into shared storage for virtual machines. This results in a stable, powerful and horizontally scalable architecture. vSAN is an integral part of HCI solutions (hyper-convergent infrastructure) based on VMware products and standard server systems.

With vSAN, you can run virtual machines with server applications on the same hardware that provides the storage. This not only reduces operating costs, but also enables performance advantages, for instance when storage can be assigned directly to a local VM (virtual machine).

According to VM storage policies, all data is saved in duplicate. This means that even if a node malfunctions, your environment will not be affected.
