Open source has long been an important topic at Thomas-Krenn. With the Thomas-Krenn Award (formerly: Open Source Grant), we support outstanding projects in this sector each year with hardware prizes valued at several thousand euros. In this way, we support open source ventures and contribute to a free, sharable and open IT community.

The winners of the Thomas-Krenn Award will receive hardware prizes valued at a total of € 10,000. The winning projects will also be announced on social media channels, our company blog TKmag, the Thomas-Krenn wiki and other websites.
With the award, the winners are therefore given the opportunity to further advance their ideas and projects with the new hardware while also benefitting from an increased media presence.
€ 10,000 worth of hardware from our online shop is up for grabs:
An independent jury, together with the community's vote, will award prizes to the three most promising projects. Information on the award announcement will be forthcoming.
In addition to the members of the independent jury, the community also receives a vote. We want to involve the open source community even more in the Thomas-Krenn Award and enable them to support their favorites. Supporters and users can vote online following the end of the application period.
In our TKmag article, we provide a closer look at the winners of the Thomas Krenn Award 2020.
1. Each applicant must be an active member of an open source or community project. Individuals are not eligible to participate in the Award.
2. The shopping cart numbers, project description and a description of the intended use for the hardware must have been received by e-mail before the deadline.
3. The winning projects will be showcased in the TKmag, therefore further information, such as web addresses, can also be provided as part of the submission.
4. Projects can be submitted more than once for the Thomas-Krenn Award.
5. The winners will be announced at the Chemnitzer Linux Days, but attendance at this event is not a prerequisite for a prize.
6. All decisions are final.
