Ethernet switches

Networking technology from Thomas-Krenn

The technical requirements for your network are constantly rising. Whether through virtualization, the emergence of new storage technologies or the ever increasing number of connected end devices: With growing demands and progressive digitalization, the demands on network performance are ever expanding. As a result, 10 Gbit Ethernet has become established as the standard in many companies – and even 25, 40 or 100 Gbit networks are becoming increasingly common.

choosing a server?
How does an Ethernet switch work?

Ethernet switches are indispensable for a future-proof IT infrastructure. In a network, they act as distributors for incoming and outgoing data packets and ensure that each transmission arrives at the desired destination – the port to which the recipient is connected – without unnecessary detours or delays. To accomplish this feat, an Ethernet switch uses the sender and recipient information contained in the data frames as well as an allocation scheme of the connected devices and their individual addresses.

When it comes to the precise coordination of data traffic and high transmission speeds, Ethernet switches are the technical basis for powerful and fast networks with bandwidths of 10 Gbit and more.

The best hardware for utmost performance

Ethernet switches and network accessories from Thomas-Krenn meet highest standards for quality and performance. Every server system is equipped with copper or fiber optic ports. This enables reliable and seamless operation at 10, 25, 40 or even 100 Gbit. We rely on our strong partners Intel and Mellanox when it comes to our high-quality networking cards. The corresponding add-on cards are usually already integrated into our servers.

Do you have even higher requirements for your network? You can also integrate your new server into your 25, 40 or 100 Gbit corporate network using PCIe add-on cards.

The Thomas-Krenn wiki also offers further information and technical data about Ethernet switches.
