TKMI overview

The Thomas-Krenn Management Interface (TKMI) is the websurface of BMC from Thomas-Krenn server. It is a MegaRAC® SP-X System-on-a-Chip (SoC) based on a graphic user interface (GUI). In the following paragraphs, you will find an overview of the displays and settings options of the TKMI.

Application

The application screen consists of the following elements:

element description
User name Enter user name
Password Enter corresponding password
Language

Selection of language (currently only English (US) is available)

Remember user name The user name is pre-filled the next time you call up TKMI
Sign me in Start application
Forgot password The recreation of the password for a user name is possible with this link1

1An email must be defined in the SMTP settings, so that the recreation functions.

Standard settings

The standard settings for the first login is as follows

  • user name: admin
  • password: admin

The password must be changed during the first login.

Components of user interface

After application, you are located on the dashboard. The main page consists of three elements.

Menu

In the menu, information on host systems and navigation can be found through different administration options.

Element Description
Firmware information Here, the current BMC-version and the date of the builds are stated
Host state Displays the host as online or offline and is a link to the Power Control
Quick search Provides a search bar for quick navigation
Menu options The individual administration opportunities of the TKMI

Quick-button bar

The elements in the quick-button bar are available on every page of the TKMI.

Element Description
Displays an event log of warnings. The messages can be selected to navigate to Logs & Reports
Displays hints on host systems
Selection of language. Currently only US - English available
Displays or hides some dashboard widgets
Synchronizes with the latest sensor and event log updates
Click to reload the latest page
rahmenlos Displays the user name of the currently logged-in user. A click on this symbol displays the authorization of the user. There are 5 authorization levels: User, Operator, Administrator, None, OEM1

Dashboard

On the dashboard, widgets can be found, that provide information on different key figures. There are 4 standard widgets and 4 extended widgets in the Thomas-Krenn Management Interface (December 10th, 2024).

Standard-Widgets

Element Descriptions
Power-On Hours Shows how much time has passed since the host was switched on. Resets during firmware updates.
Access Logs A graphic representation of different sensors and occupied/available storage in the protocols. By clicking on the More Info link, the Audit Log, the Audit Log page can be called up
System Identify LED Switches the LED on and off on the physical device to identify the host system.
Set Debug Shell Switches the Debug Shell on and off

Extended widgets

Element Descriptions
Pending Deassertions Here, all Asserted Events are listed that are waiting for a De-Assertion. To receive details on the events, click on the More Info link. This opens the event protocol
Today & 30 Days Here, a list of event logs is displayed that were recorded by different sensors. Click on the Details link to get to event log.
Sensor Monitoring All critical sensors of the device are listed here. By clicking on a sensor in the list, the sensor detail page will be displayed with sensor information and sensor event details.

Help symbol

On all subpages of the TKMI, there is a help symbol located in the right upper corner:

By clicking on this symbol, helpful hints about the called up pages appear.

Menu options

The TKMI offers the following administration options. Follow the corresponding link for details on the individual elements

sensor

On this page, details on all sensors available are displayed, for example name, type, status, current measured value and behaviour. Sensor readings are available for temperature, fans, watchdogs and voltage sensors as well as for supported discret sensors. The page is automatically updated with the latest data from the data base.

The sensors are sorted by type and status (Critical, Discrete, Normal and Disabled).

System Inventory

This page shows information on the hardware of the host computer.

The components are distributed in categories for better readability. These are System, Processor, Memory Controller, BaseBoard, Power, Thermal, PCIE Function, Storage.

FRU information

General information, housing information, board information and product information on Field Replacable Unit (FRU)-devices of the BMC are displayed on this page.

Logs & Reports

Behind this dropdown-menu, different logs and reports are located that are created during host system operations.

Here, the IPMI Event Log, Operation Log, Audit Log, Video Log and the SOL Video Log are located.

Settings

This is a collection of different configuration settings of the TKMI. Here you will find RAID Management, Network Settings, User Management, SSL Settings and SMTP Settings among many others.

Remote control

In this menu option, you will find a HTML5-console and a serial over LAN (SOL) remote connection to the host system.

Image redirection

This option displays the Remote Images that are available for the BMC. For every image type, up to 4 images can be added depending on the configuration.

Power control

Here, the host system can be switched on and off as well as restarted remotely.

Maintenance

On this page, different components of the host system can be maintained. Here, BMC and BIOS Update, Backup Configuration, BMC Reset, Reset Factory Defaults are located.
