Integration of ASUS ASMB10 VMedia DVD/ISO
In this article, we show how to mount a virtual DVD-drive with the help of an ASUS ASMB10 (BMC) module or an ISO-file so that you can perform, for example, an operating system installation remotely.
It has turned out that the direct integration of the ISO in the HTML-console of the KVM-window is the fastest and easiest method.
Preparation - VMedia Instance Settings in the ASMB10-settings
The VMedia Instance Settings must be adjusted to integrate an ISO-image in the HTML-KVM-console of the ASMB10 module.
Navigate to: Settings -> Media Redirection -> VMedia Instance Settings
There, you must allow at least one virtual DVD drive for each CD/DVD device instance.
Mounting of the ISO-image in the HTML-KVM-console
After you have set the VMedia Instance settings accordingly, you can open the HTML-KVM-console.
You will find a button on the upper right corner, which is called Browse File. There, select the desired ISO-image and click on Start Media.
Booting of the mounted ISO-image in the HTML-KVM-console
You have to reboot the system after mounting the ISO-image. After this, the boot entry UEFI: AMI Virtual CDROM is available.
Select this boot entry to boot the mounted ISO-image.
Remote installation of desired operating system
Now, you can install your desired operating system via the usual installer.
The displayed size of the virtual-ISO-image is steadily increased during the installation process until the complete ISO-image is uploaded.
After installation, click on Stop Media to remove the ISO from the HTML-KVM-console.
