Installation of Intel management engine driver

After the installtion of Windows 11 or Windows server 2022, several other devices appear in the device manager. In this article, we show how to install the Intel Management Engine driver. As a result, the PCI communication controller (simple) listed under other devices (e.g., with PCI vendor ID 8086 and PCI device ID 51E0) will be displayed under System devices-> Intel(R) Management Engine Interface #1 in the future.

In this example, the Intel Management Engine driver is installed on a Thomas-Krenn LES plus v4

Problem

After the installation, the following device is displayed in the area other devices:

  • PCI-communication controller (simple)
  • The following hint appears in details:
    The device "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_51E0&SUBSYS_72708086&REV_01\3&11583659&0&B0" requires more installations.

Perform the following steps for the installation (in the example, a LES plus v4 with Intel Core i5-1235U (Alder Lake-U) and Windows server 2022 is used):
