Display and deactivate Firefox Browser Disk Cache

This article will show how Firefox’s browser cache can be displayed and deactivated. The screenshots were made under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with Firefox 24.0.

Displaying the Browser Cache

In the address bar, enter "about:cache". This will display the following screen:

From there, the entries cached on the hard disk can be displayed for the "disk cache device" by using the "List Cache Entries" link.

Deactivating the Browser Disk Cache

If deactivation of the browser disk cache is desirable, this can be done by setting the value under Preferences->Advanced->Offline Storage to "0".

Whether the cache has in fact been deactivated can be tested by means of "about:cache".
