VMware ESXi 5.0 Installation

In the article, we will show how to install VMware ESXi 5.0. Thereby, we will do the installation from a USB stick. This configuration is supported by VMware, as shown in the Installing ESXi 5.0 from a USB Stick article. Please be sure that the hardware has been certified for ESXi 5.0.

Installation

The following gallery shows the individual installation steps, one after the other:

• 
  Step 1: The VMware ESXi Hypervisor boot menu
• 
  Step 2: Installation starts automatically
• 
  Step 3: The progress of booting is shown
• 
  Step 4: Confirm the Welcome screen by pressing Enter
• 
  Step 5: EULA License (press F11), the available devices will be scanned afterwards.
• 
  Step 6: Select the installation disk. Pressing F1 will display details about the medium
• 
  Step 7: Setting the language
• 
  Step 8: Setting a root password
• 
  Step 9: The installation will be started by pressing F11
• 
  Step 10: The progress of installation of installation is displayed
• 
  Step 11: Rebooting the server
• 
  Step 12: The ESXi screen after re-booting (press F2 to login)
• 
  Step 13: Configuration view (password, network configuration and so forth can be set)
