Cable and plug connections

Verify all plug connections of the cables. Disconnect them from the mainboard and reconnect the cables. Remove all additional plug-in cards from the system and reinsert them. Please ensure that the server is not connected to the power supply during this work and that you are not carrying any electrostatic charge.

Working memory

Remove all working memories and equip the server again. If an error is not fixed, start with a minimal number of memory bars to determine the defective bar.

Disconnect the server from the power supply

Remove the power supply of the server and wait some minutes. Press the power button several times (when the device is powered off) to discharge all capacitors on the board. Reconnect the device to the power supply and start your server.

Temperature problems

Ensure that all fans are running, the heat sinks are correctly positioned on the CPUs, and the airduct (if installed) is correctly positioned.. If the server room is generally too warm, please set the fans to full speed in the BIOS. The room should, of course, still be cooled as quickly as possible to prevent damage to the hardware.

BIOS Reset

Go to the BIOS and load "Optimal Defaults" to reset it to standard settings. Then adjust the settings according to your motherboard, as specified by Thomas-Krenn.AG upon delivery. These adjustments can be found in our Wiki in every (for example X9SCM-F). Please also remember to restore your settings, such as RAID settings or boot sequence, correctly.

Controller

If the performance of the server is weak, verify if the Write-Cache of the controller is activated. Attention! If the controller is operated without BBU, a power failure may result in data loss.

If the controller freezes during bootup, check the BBU temperature. If it exceeds 45°C, it may be damaged and cause problems. Here it is recommended to optimize the cooling of the BBU.

A solution could be to operate the controller without the BBU and without circuit board (if installed) or to expand the controller without booting it to avoid damage on the controller.

Please contact the Technical Support at 08551/915050 or write an email to support@thomas-krenn.com if the error is not fixed.
