Set OPNsense language
The web interface of the Open Source Firewall OPNsense supports multiple languages. Besides English, also German, Czech, French and Italian are supported. In this article we show you how to configure the language of the web interface globally and individually for individual users with OPNsense 25.1.
Configure language globally
To configure the language globally, proceed as follows:
-
Under System -> Settings -> General in the field Language select your desired language (e.g. German).
-
Click on Save.
-
The changes were successfully applied.
-
After logging out, the login window now appears in the new language.
-
After logging in, the dashboard and all other pages are also displayed in the new language.
Configuring a user's language
In addition to the global language settings, it is possible to configure the language individually for each user. The user's language setting naturally overwrites the global configuration:
-
Select the desired language under Lobby' -> Password (the setting then applies to the user with whom you are currently logged in).
This feature of the user-specific language setting has been available in OPNsense since version 17.7.10.[1]
