Notes:
ICH9R A2 (AID) support: This release fully supports the Alternate ID feature introduced
in ICH9R A2. The OROM and driver released with this build will only work on
ICH9 A2 parts and will not work for ICH9 A1/A0 parts. User needs to select
ICH8R/ICH9R RAID controller when doing a ‘have disk’ installation or F6 install
during XP for ICH9R A2 parts.
OROM Update: We are introducing the support of two OROMs with this release. Please select what features that you would like enabled on your platform by choosing the correct OROM build. The UI/Driver will look to the OROM version when determining what features are enabled to the user. (Note: Each OROM will have a RAIDCFG utility released with it that works only on that version.)
1) RAID 0/1/5/10 + 256 TB: This sku supports the standard RAID features RAID 0/1/5/10, and adds support for greater than 2TB volumes for data volumes only (no boot support due to an OS & BIOS limitation).
2)
RAID 0/1 + IRRT: This sku
supports RAID 0/1 and Intel Rapid Recover Technology
Possible Issues
with Intel® RAID and Window
Various desktop Serial ATA devices such as hard drives and CD/DVD drives have
been reported that do not comply with the Serial ATA LPM device specification
and display erratic behavior when LPM is enabled.
Because the setup change means that LPM is enabled by default for all Microsoft
Windows Vista platforms, using a device that does not completely follow the
specification may result in one of the listed issues.
Workarounds:
If you are experiencing installation
issues, the following workarounds may help resolve the issue:
If you are experiencing performance
degradation or timeout errors, the following workarounds may help resolve the
issue:
** WARNING: The registry editor is a powerful tool which requires precision
when making modifications. There is no method of automatically undoing
mistakes. If you do not feel comfortable performing these steps you may want to
have someone perform them for you. Intel is not responsible for errors made by
the user during modification of the registry.
Enabling LPM on ICH9R: With
systems having Intel® ICH9R controller hub, LPM is supported, but is not
enabled by default. If you wish to enable LPM on ICH9R
systems, please refer the instructions in section
14 of the OEM technical guide for
7.5 posted along with this.
