MegaRaid 96XX controller are displayed incorrectly in the Windows device manager
In the Windows Device Manager, MegaRAID 96XX RAID controllers are often not displayed with the correct name. These instructions explain how to solve this problem with the help of the driver installation.
Initial situation

After the installation of Windows, the RAID controller is displayed as Broadcom Fusion-MPT 24GSAS/PCIe Secure SAS40xx/SAS41xx storage controller.
The cause is the lack of current drivers.
Driver installation
The correct driver must be installed so that the controller is recognized correctly.

First, a driver must be downloaded for the controller:

Once the suitable driver was downloaded for the controller, it must be installed on the system.

First, the downloaded driver package must be extracted.

As soon as the file was unpacked, the driver can be installed via device manager. For this, click-right on the corresponding controller and select 'install driver'.

Select the option ‚searching for drivers on the computer‘ in the appearing menu.

Select the unpacked file and confirm with ‚OK‘.

The driver is now installed automatically. Once the process is complete, a confirmation of the successful installation follows.

After the installation has been completed successfully, the controller can be found in the device manager with the correct description.
