MegaRaid 96XX controller are displayed incorrectly in the Windows device manager

In the Windows Device Manager, MegaRAID 96XX RAID controllers are often not displayed with the correct name. These instructions explain how to solve this problem with the help of the driver installation.

Initial situation

The RAID controller is displayed as Broadcom Fusion-MPT 24GSAS/PCIe Secure SAS40xx/SAS41xx storage controller.

After the installation of Windows, the RAID controller is displayed as Broadcom Fusion-MPT 24GSAS/PCIe Secure SAS40xx/SAS41xx storage controller.

The cause is the lack of current drivers.

Driver installation

The correct driver must be installed so that the controller is recognized correctly.

Once the suitable driver was downloaded for the controller, it must be installed on the system.
