Installation Ubuntu 14.04

In the following example we will be using Ubuntu 14.04.1 installation media. This will ensure that the Linux Kernel version 3.13 is used (instead of newer versions by the Ubuntu LTS Hardware Enablement Stack):

  1. Ubuntu 14.04.1 installation (incl. OpenSSH-Server)
    • Language (F2): English, Keymap (F3): German
    • Username: tkmon
  2. After the installation, and depending on which kind of installation configure Locales in Ubuntu:
    sudo locale-gen de_DE.UTF-8
  3. Loading System Updates:
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
    sudo apt-get clean
    sudo reboot

Install TKmon using the Thomas-Krenn Ubuntu repository:

  3. Install TKmon

(As an alternative, during the installation of sudo apt-get install tkmon-appliance in addition to tkmon, the tkmon-issue package is also installed, in doing so the computer's IP Address appears on the Text-Login Screen)

  • URL: https://[IP]/tkmon (statt [IP] enter the IP address of the computer)
