Open source software for 3D modeling

Are you looking for an alternative to commercial CAD software? If so, the open source application FreeCAD might be the answer. The software is particularly ideal for beginners and semi-professionals as there are no licensing costs. FreeCAD allows users to create three-dimensional designs while also offering some 2D modeling features as well.

Although the parametric CAD software is currently still in its beta phase of development, it is an interesting opportunity for semi-professionals, students and home users to deepen their knowledge and hone their skills in computer aided design for free.

Professional commercial programs are often too expensive for hobby designers and beginners with their high licensing costs. FreeCAD therefore represents an attractive alternative for beginners and others that aren’t quite ready to invest in professional CAD software.

Optimized workstations for FreeCAD

FreeCAD can be used for anything from product design to mechanical engineering and offers features for many other technical or architectural fields – giving users the freedom to realize their designs. Conventional CAD formats like DXF or IFC are supported by the free software and can be accordingly exported, imported and edited, which ensures a high compatibility with other applications.

In contrast to many commercial products, FreeCAD also can be used on Linux machines, which is why our hardware has also been thoroughly tested with this operating system. Full compatibility is therefore guaranteed.

As with any CAD program, you will need high-performance hardware to optimally run FreeCAD and view your designs and models fluidly at high resolutions. This requires a powerful graphics card along with a top-end CPU – high-quality components that are used in our systems. You can rely on our workstations!
