Intel Virtualization Manager

Virtualization at the push of a button

The Intel Virtualization Manager (Bearriver) is a virtualization solution that is optimally tuned to the IMS and embedded in the management of the module. As of version 2 of the modular chassis, the solution is already integrated into the firmware and can be activated with a software key. The Virtualization Manager is available at the push of a button and provides the following features: Virtualization of a compute module with just a few clicks (1 license for 6 compute modules), simple management including remote access, integrated live migration, 1-click updates for the entire system, overview of the created physical HDDs on virtual HDDs on virtual machines. The hypervisor is integrated directly into the CMM, allowing you to centrally monitor and maintain both hardware and virtual machines.

The Intel Virtualization Manager is already integrated with the current firmware of the V2 chassis. To activate this feature, you must purchase a license key which is linked to the serial number of the system. Only 1 key is required to virtualize the entire chassis. The key has a term of 12 months. Within this time the following is available:

Firmware updates for chassis components
Management firmware updates
Server BIOS updates
IMS GUI updates and enhancements
Software updates and enhancements for virtualization

After the 12 months have elapsed, a software maintenance key must be purchased (available Q1 2012), which extends the support for the Virtualization Manager for a further 2 years.
