Ziel war die Umstellung der bestehenden Horizon-VDI-Umgebung von Windows 10 auf Windows 11, um eine leistungsf\u00e4hige, sichere und benutzerfreundliche Plattform f\u00fcr die zuk\u00fcnftige digitale Arbeitsumgebung bereitzustellen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">Ausgangslage und Zielsetzung<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Im Rahmen der kontinuierlichen Weiterentwicklung unserer IT-Infrastruktur wurde im Jahr 2024 das Projekt gestartet, unsere bestehende VMware Horizon-Umgebung von Windows 10 auf Windows 11 umzustellen. Ziel war es, die virtuelle Desktop-Infrastruktur (VDI) zukunftssicher zu gestalten und dabei insbesondere auf drei zentrale Aspekte zu achten: Performance, Sicherheit und Benutzerfreundlichkeit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ein wichtiger technischer Meilenstein vor Projektbeginn war das Upgrade der zugrunde liegenden Virtualisierungsplattform von vSphere 7 auf vSphere 8, um die Kompatibilit\u00e4t mit Windows 11 und den aktuellen Anforderungen von Nvidia und Omnissa Horizon sicherzustellen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">Technische Umsetzung<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zu Beginn des Projekts wurden umfangreiche Kompatibilit\u00e4tspr\u00fcfungen durchgef\u00fchrt. Dabei wurde sichergestellt, dass Windows 11 in der Version 23H2 reibungslos mit der eingesetzten Nvidia vGPU-Technologie sowie der Horizon-Plattform zusammenarbeitet. Parallel dazu wurde die Horizon-Umgebung auf die Version 2406 aktualisiert und im weiteren Verlauf auf Omnissa Horizon 2503 angehoben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00fcr die Bereitstellung der neuen virtuellen Desktops wurde ein sogenanntes Golden Image erstellt \u2013 eine standardisierte Vorlage, auf der alle sp\u00e4teren VMs basieren. In dieser Vorlage wurde bewusst auf den Einsatz eines virtuellen TPM (vTPM) verzichtet, da dieses bei der Verteilung der non-persistenten VMs dynamisch zugewiesen wird. Die daf\u00fcr ben\u00f6tigten physischen TPMs sind bereits im VDI-Cluster vorhanden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Das Image wurde mit allen notwendigen Komponenten ausgestattet, darunter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Horizon Agent f\u00fcr die Anbindung an die VDI-Infrastruktur<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nvidia-Treiber f\u00fcr die GPU-Beschleunigung<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FSLogix zur effizienten Verwaltung der Benutzerprofile<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">Herausforderungen und L\u00f6sungen<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ein zentrales Thema im Projekt war die Integration von Microsoft 365 in Kombination mit FSLogix. Hier kam es zu Herausforderungen bei der Aktivierung der Office-Lizenzen, insbesondere im Zusammenspiel mit der Profilverwaltung. Diese Problematik konnte durch den Einsatz eines Hybrid-Ansatzes gel\u00f6st werden: Neben FSLogix-Profilcontainern wurden gezielt Ordnerumleitungen eingesetzt, um lose Dateien der Benutzer au\u00dferhalb des Containers zu speichern. Dies erm\u00f6glichte eine kontinuierliche Virenschutzpr\u00fcfung dieser Dateien und erh\u00f6hte gleichzeitig die Flexibilit\u00e4t bei der Lizenzaktivierung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">Sicherheit und Benutzerfreundlichkeit<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ein besonderer Fokus lag auf der Sicherheit der neuen Umgebung. Alle bestehenden Gruppenrichtlinien (GPOs) wurden sorgf\u00e4ltig von Windows 10 auf Windows 11 \u00fcbertragen und dabei an die aktuellen Empfehlungen des BSI (Bundesamt f\u00fcr Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik) sowie an die Anforderungen der ISO 27001 angepasst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auch die Benutzerfreundlichkeit wurde ber\u00fccksichtigt: Die GPOs wurden so gestaltet, dass sie eine konsistente und intuitive Benutzererfahrung bieten, ohne dabei die Sicherheit zu kompromittieren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">Testphasen und Rollout<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die neue Umgebung wurde zun\u00e4chst intensiv innerhalb der IT-Abteilung getestet. Anschlie\u00dfend folgte eine freiwillige Testphase mit Kollegen aus anderen Abteilungen, um ein m\u00f6glichst breites Feedback zu erhalten. Nach erfolgreichem Abschluss dieser Phasen wurde die Umgebung in Microsoft Defender eingebunden, um auch auf Endpoint-Ebene optimal abgesichert zu sein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Der Rollout erfolgte schrittweise und kontrolliert. So konnte sichergestellt werden, dass etwaige Probleme fr\u00fchzeitig erkannt und behoben wurden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">Fazit<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Das Projekt wurde erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Die Umstellung auf Windows 11 innerhalb der bestehenden Horizon-Umgebung verlief planm\u00e4\u00dfig und ohne gr\u00f6\u00dfere St\u00f6rungen.
