Wie gewohnt bringt der Release etliche neue Features mit sich, die wir f\u00fcr Sie in diesem Artikel kurz unter die Lupe genommen haben.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Storage Spaces Direct und Software Defined Networking<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Storage Spaces Direct ist eine neue Speichertechnologie, die beim Windows Server 2016 erstmals eingesetzt wird. Sie basiert auf den Storage Spaces, die Nutzern fr\u00fcherer Server-Versionen bereits vertraut sind. Dieser virtuelle Speicherplatz, der sich auf mehrere physische Datentr\u00e4ger erstreckt, hatte schon bei alten Windows Server Versionen den Vorteil, Speicherplatz ganz einfach skalieren zu k\u00f6nnen. Storage Spaces Direct stellt eine direkte Erweiterung dieser Technologie dar: die Storage Spaces k\u00f6nnen damit ganz einfach auf lokale Festplatten mehrerer Server in einem Cluster ausgedehnt werden.<\/p>\n<p>Wie schon bei den Storage Spaces k\u00f6nnen auch bei Storage Spaces Direct SSDs mit HDDs gemischt werden. Zus\u00e4tzlich werden auch NVMe\u2018s beim Storage-Tiering ber\u00fccksichtigt, h\u00e4ufig genutzte Dateien werden damit auf dem schnellsten Speichermedium im System abgelegt.<\/p>\n<p>Das Thema Software Defined Networking wird durch den virtuellen Network Controller abgedeckt. Er erm\u00f6glicht es, alle Netzwerkger\u00e4te sowie virtuelle und physische Netzwerke zentral zu verwalten. Einzige Voraussetzung: der Controller muss mit dem System Center 2016 Virtual Machine Manager verbunden sein.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Windows Server Container und Nano Server<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Ein wichtiges neues Feature von Windows Server 2016 sind die Docker-Container. Damit k\u00f6nnen einzelne Anwendungen virtualisiert werden, ohne eine komplette virtuelle Maschine mit dazugeh\u00f6rigem Betriebssystem zu ben\u00f6tigen. Diese Container erm\u00f6glichen es Administratoren, mehr virtuelle Anwendungen bereitzustellen. Zudem sind Container sicherer, als herk\u00f6mmliche virtuelle Maschinen, da kein Betriebssystem mehr angegriffen werden kann. Mit den Containern integriert Microsoft die Open Source L\u00f6sung Docker in die neue Server-Version, die Verwaltung erfolgt \u00fcber PowerShell oder den Docker-Client.<\/p>\n<p>Nano-Server sind eine neue Bereitstellungsm\u00f6glichkeit von Windows Server 2016. Dabei handelt es sich um eine sehr schlanke Installation (vergleichbar mit der Core-Installation). Bereits bei der Installation sollte man sich dar\u00fcber im Klaren, sein, welche Aufgaben der Nano-Server sp\u00e4ter aus\u00fcben soll, denn es werden nur die ben\u00f6tigten Rollen beziehungsweise Features bereitgestellt. Das hat zur Folge, dass dieses System nur eine sehr kleine Angriffsfl\u00e4che f\u00fcr Schwachstellen im Betriebssystem bietet.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Neue Lizenzmodelle<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Neben den technischen Features ist die \u00c4nderung der Lizenzierungsmodelle beim Windows Server 2016 entscheidend. Statt der Anzahl der Prozessoren kommt es zuk\u00fcnftig darauf an, wie viele Cores auf dem Prozessor verf\u00fcgbar sind. Abh\u00e4ngig davon wird die Gesamtlizenz ermittelt. Zudem gibt es bei Windows Server 2016 nun nur noch drei Editionen: Essentials, Standard und Datacenter.
