Wir haben wieder etwas Neues f\u00fcr Sie: In unseren Intel Dual-CPU Systemen<\/a>\u00a0finden Sie ab sofort neue NVM Express (NVMe) Karten von Intel. Die auf SSDs optimierte Schnittstelle f\u00fcr den PCIe Bus holt das meiste aus Ihren Solid State Drives heraus und beschleunigt Ihre Datenzugriffe damit enorm. Doch das ist l\u00e4ngst nicht das einzige Feature dieser Technologie. Was NVMe-Karten f\u00fcr den Nutzer bereithalten, erfahren Sie in unserem neuen TKmag-Artikel:<\/strong><\/p>\nN<\/span>on-Volatile Memory Express ist ein standardisiertes, hoch performantes Software Interface f\u00fcr PCI Express Solid State Drives. Die Technologie wurde speziell f\u00fcr einen Einsatz in SSDs und anderen nicht fl\u00fcchtigen Speichern entwickelt und soll gr\u00f6\u00dfere Skalierbarkeit und ein vereinfachtes Management bereitstellen. Gegen\u00fcber herk\u00f6mmlichen SATA- oder SAS-Schnittstellen, die urspr\u00fcnglich f\u00fcr HDDs konzipiert wurden, kann mit dem Register-Level Interface NVMe das volle Potenzial neuerer Speichertechnologien ausgesch\u00f6pft werden.<\/p>\n

Geringere Latenzzeiten dank neuer Technologie<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Im Gegensatz zu SAS- und SATA-Schnittstellen wird der Performance-Zuwachs neuer SSD-Generationen mit Non-Volatile Memory Express Karten endlich verwendbar, \u00e4ltere Register-Level Interfaces k\u00f6nnen gerade hinsichtlich der Daten\u00fcbertragungsrate und der Latenzen da nicht mehr mithalten. Das HDD Register-Level Interface wird bei NVMe-Technologien durch eine Anbindung \u00fcber die Bus Technologie PCIe ersetzt, die hohe Bandbreiten bereitstellt. Dank der neuen Schnittstelle\u00a0\"TKperf-Vergleich-Intel-DCS3710-Intel-P3700\"<\/a>k\u00f6nnen mehr parallele Zugriffe gleichzeitig auf eine SSD erfolgen.<\/p>\n

Dar\u00fcber hinaus ist die Latenz bei NVMe deutlich geringer als bei SATA oder SAS. Das zeigen auch unsere Performancemessungen mit TKperf<\/a> (NVMe-Ergebnisse in der Grafik rechts zu sehen): So betr\u00e4gt die Latenz beim Schreiben von 4KB Bl\u00f6cken bei der neuen NVMe-basierenden Intel P3700 SSD nur mehr 17\u00b5s \u2013 typische Datacenter SSDs liegen hier bei \u00fcber 50\u00b5s.<\/p>\n

Dank Non-Volatile Memory Express werden die Daten von der CPU direkt via PCIe zur SSD \u00fcbertragen und k\u00f6nnen dort sofort verarbeitet werden. SATA- oder SAS-Schnittstellen hingegen verpacken die Daten vor der \u00dcbertragung, weshalb die SSD sie wiederum in normale Speicheradressen umwandeln muss. Dieser aufwendige Vorgang entf\u00e4llt bei NVMe komplett, die Arbeitsweise entspricht dem des RAM: Im Arbeitsspeicher liegen die Daten so adressiert, wie sie auch in den Flash Chips verarbeitet werden sollen. Dieses Prinzip wird auf NVMe \u00fcbertragen, wodurch niedrige Latenzen m\u00f6glich werden.<\/p>\n

Einheitlicher Treiber f\u00fcr NVMe<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Zudem wurden die eingesetzten Non-Volatile Memory Express Treiber neu konzipiert, weshalb sie einheitlich f\u00fcr alle NVMe Karten eingesetzt werden k\u00f6nnen\"NVMe_Grafik\"<\/a>. \u00c4ltere PCIe SSDs verwenden propriet\u00e4re Software-Schnittstellen, je nach Hersteller sind dort unterschiedliche Treiber erforderlich, die zudem oft manuell kompiliert werden m\u00fcssen. Dank NVMe verringert sich dieser zus\u00e4tzliche Aufwand f\u00fcr die Nutzer, propriet\u00e4re Schnittstellen sind nicht mehr notwendig. Durch die einheitlichen Treiber l\u00e4sst sich au\u00dferdem der Befehlssatz deutlich reduzieren.<\/p>\n

Fest steht: NVMe ist die Schnittstelle der Wahl, wenn es um SSDs und andere nicht fl\u00fcchtige Speicher geht. Erh\u00f6hte Effizienz und Performance, geringere Latenzen und einheitliche Treiber machen die neue Technologie f\u00fcr Nutzer attraktiv und verbessern den Datentransfer der Systeme enorm.<\/p>\n

Ab sofort sind NVMe-Karten daher auch bei Thomas-Krenn verf\u00fcgbar: In unseren Servern werden auf Wunsch die Intel Solid State Drive Data Center P3600, P3700 oder die Intel SSD 750 eingesetzt. Kunden w\u00e4hlen das gew\u00fcnschte System im Onlineshop und passen es wie gewohnt in der Konfigurationsansicht an. Ist eine NVMe-Karte f\u00fcr den gew\u00e4hlten Server verf\u00fcgbar, wird diese unter dem Punkt Datentr\u00e4ger im Konfigurator angezeigt und kann einfach hinzugef\u00fcgt werden.<\/p>\n
