Recommendation: After a BIOS update load the default settings of the BIOS, and adjust the configuration as suggested below at BIOS Configuration.

BIOS Settings

At Thomas Krenn, after loading the default settings the following BIOS configuration adjustments are applied before a server with this motherboard gets its test installation and gets shipped:

Advanced          > Boot Feature                    > Quiet Boot                    > Disable
                  > PCIe/PCI/PnP Configuration      > Load Onboard LAN1 Option ROM  > Enabled
                                                    > Load Onboard LAN2 Option ROM  > Enabled

Optionally the configuration of the supermicro motherboard's onboard raid activation Settings of the SATA Raids or SAS Raids follows depending on the server configuration.

IPMI

IPMI Versions

  • Version 3.15
    • Signed off for general usage by our QA department on: 13/03/2014.
    • When updating this firmware the checkbox near preserved configuration should be unchecked (Unckecking this option will restore the factory default setting of BMC), only to ensure that all updates are applied and the sensors are properly displayed. The removal of the check sets the IPMI modules back to factory defaults and the IP address and all settings must be reconfigured by ipmicfg or another way, see IPMI Configuration for Supermicro Systems.
    • In this version there is a problem in association with an SSL certificate. The default SSL certificate is activated after an IPMI restart, instead of a specific uploaded certificate.

NOTE: A 3.xx firmware version may not be reflashed on an underlying (2.xx / 1.xx) version. This can cause damage to the IPMI modules.
