A Height Unit abbr. U, (for Unit or RU for Rack Unit), refers to a unit of housing for electronics.

It describes the height of a device, for example Servers. 1U means one unit, 2U two units and so on. 1U corresponds to an actual height of 1 ¾ inches, or 44.45 millimeters.

Housing with a U design are for racks with a width of 19". 19" corresponds to 482,6 mm.
