wikiAssigning an ESXi 6.5 License
VMware ESXi 6.5 is available in several editions. In this article we will show you how to install a license for ESXi after installing ESXi 6.5. In this example we use the free vSphere Hypervisor license.
Get license
Licenses for VMware vSphere 6.5 can be obtained here:
- Free vSphere Hypervisor license: Download VMware vSphere Hypervisor for Free
- All other licenses: VMware License Configurator
Import license
Log in to the ESXi Server's host client by connecting to a web browser on https://ESXI-IP-ADRESSE/UI. Then do the following:
Click Manage.
Click Licensing.
Click Assign license.
Enter the license key and click on Check license.
Click Assign license.
The license has been activated.
In the Host view, there is no warning that the host is in test mode.
