NexentaStor
Unified Storage

Thomas Krenn and NexentaStor deliver
the storage of the future!

Thomas Krenn and NexentaStor...

Find out below why NexentaStor is one of the fastest-recognized Enterprise Storage Solutions in history. More than 3300 customers and 30000 endusers since 2008 give us a clear message:

  1. Unified Storage for enterprise-class
The system offers best performance via CIFS, NFS, iSCSI and Fibre Channel for block-based access and file-based access. With NexentaStor certified solutions of Thomas-Krenn your investment is safe from price policies of expensive brands and vendor lock-in. You decrease your storage costs massively.

  2. 100% data integrity:
NexentaStor is currently the only solution that includes both: firstly the secure end-to-end data integrity of ZFS (Zettabyte File System) which detects and corrects the inconsistency of data immediately. Secondly a number of synchronous (mirroring) and asynchronous (snapshot) possibilities of replication. Further RAIDZ and RAIDZ2 prevent the risks of „Write Holes“ as they may occur in conventional RAID systems.

  3. Unlimited power:
128 Bit are simply better than 32 Bit! Recent file systems have been developed at the beginning and the end of 1990s, when CPUs brought only 1/900 of the power that can be achieved now. As a result these traditional file systems are forced to use a 32-Bit addressing. This limits the number of files and snapshots as well as the size and the volume of addressing. ZFS and NexentaStor use a 128 Bit addressing. With file systems which are based on Windows or Linux you can not perform snapshots, which do not affect the I/O performance and the CPU utilization. Better file systems can only manage 255 snapshots and 12TB large files. In contrast NexentaStor can manage up to 2⁶⁴ snapshots, these are all I/O neutral and CPU neutral. Moreover NexentaStor currently supports a maximum file size of 16 exabytes. 128 Bit are certainly better than 32 Bit.

  4. Easy management end extended support functions:
At storage systems, which build on NexentaStor, the bureaucracy will keep to a minimum. In practical terms the 128 Bit addressing means that administrators have not to worry whether the file system coming your way with the number of files or the amount of data in a given volume. NexentaStor certified solutions by Thomas-Krenn include proven, tested and certified hardware components from well-known manufacturers. The administration includes the search and retrieve of snapshots, a standard API, a graphical user interface and a console interface with scripting options, a variety of configuration wizards and context-specific recommendations as well as warings which minimize errors and the amount of work for the administrators. For emerging issues NexentaStor includes an extended support tool. This includes self-diagnostic measures which are automatically triggered when a problem is reported. Technicians of Thomas Krenn and Nexenta are working together seamlessly to support customers - no matter whether it is a hardware problem or a software problem. .

  5. Industry-leading support for virtual environments:
NexentaStor is currently the only ZFS based solution that provides Unified Storage which can be used for both block based or file based storage for virtual machines. With Nexentas optional VM Data Center Module can be provided a single interface for VMware and Citrix XenServer hosts. NexentaStor is certified as VMware and Citrix ready. A free Citrix StorageLink Adapter is available for customers who use either Citrix StorageLink or Microsoft Essentials to manage their Xen or Hyper-V environments. Technicians of
Thomas-Krenn are both, certified for VMware as well as for Citrix and thus have a comprehensive overview of NexentaStor and your virtual environment.

  6. Native support for SSD and hybrid storage pools:
NexentaStor allows to build hybrid storage pools, consisting of SSDs and different hard disks. The use of SSDs accelerate the write operations and the read operations because within ZFS intelligent caching is used. The result is a breakthrough in terms of price and performance. The NexentaStor certified solutions of Thomas-Krenn have been verified specially to ensure that NexentaStor works smoothly with the special Thomas-Krenn SSDs.
