The new FAS2240 offers many new architectural features, performance, functionality and flexibility that improve FAS 2000 series significantly. With the NetApp FAS series, the focus is on performance and safety at the highest level.

Versatility:
As the FAS2240 is an unified storage, it is possible to process several protocols as 

• CIFS,
• NFS
• iSCSI and
• Fibre Channel

in one system. It is designed for storage and server consolidation in both Windows and Unix environments equally suitable for application infrastructure in databases, and E-Mail/Messaging ERP-/CRM-applications. In addition to Fibre Channel, SAS and SATA drives also can be used. With additional software packs, you can expand your system little by little. In the cluster-variation (FAS2240A) you can also buy higher availability.
Via one mezzanine slot the FAS2240 can be optionally equipped with 8Gb FC or 10GbE. Depending on the type of internal drives, the system is available in two models:
- The FAS2240-2 is a 2U system with internal SAS disks

- The FAS2240-4 is a 4U system with internal SATA drives.
Another architectural highlight is the fact that the FAS2240 can be converted into a disk shelf, and can thus serve as a sustainable investment for larger disk shelf controller.

Together with the system you also get a documentation on the FAS2240, as well as cable and rackmount kit and within Germany 3 years - 4h exchange service (with technician). The on-site commissioning can optionally be performed by a NetApp engineer.
