ESXi 4.0 mit dem VMware vSphere Host Update Utility aktualisieren
Beim Einsatz von einzelnen ESXi 4.0 Hosts können Sie das VMware vSphere Host Update Utility für Updates verwenden. Bitte beachten Sie, dass das Host Update Utility zum Einspielen von Patches nur für ESXi 4.0[1] (nicht ESX) verwendet werden kann, und dieses Utility mit der Version 4.1 eingestellt wurde.[2]

Fehlermeldung wenn noch VMs laufen
Falls nicht alle virtuellen Maschinen gestoppt wurden kommt es zu folgender Fehlermeldung:
There was an error during installing patches on 10.1.102.11 Der Patch-Vorgang ist mit folgendem Fehler fehlgeschlagen: Failed to put the host into maintenance mode. this may be caused by VMs still running on the host. please turn them off or suspend them and try again. This may be also caused by vmotion failure, please check logs of hostd, vpxa and esxupdate.
