Firmware Modular Server v1 (CMM v1)

Version 6.10 (April 2012)

  • Behobene Fehler:
    • CMM1: Intel® Compute Module MFS5520VI rKVM mouse Relative mode is correctly set via the UI
    • SCM: Transport, caused Storage Pool and Virtual Drives under synchronization to change to an unknown state
    • SCM: Rebuild is paused at one percent and does not continue
    • SCSI-3 Persistent Reservation fixed for Microsoft* Windows Server* 2008 R2 cluster

Version 6.8 (Juli 2011)

  • Behobene Fehler:
    • BIOS: BIOS change to set NIC to fixed instead of autonegotiate
    • BIOS: EFI TFTP utility intermittently hangs
    • BIOS: PCIe Malformed TLP error
    • BMC: Invalid session ticket / Authentication Failed after reconnection to internet.

  • Neue Funktionen mit diesem Release:
    • Enable/disable redundancy check: Redundancy check is a background task, which checks for inconsistencies of mirrored data or parity data. Redundancy check when enabled runs once monthly.
  • Behobene Fehler:
    • CMM: Error message no longer displayed when migrating from Raid 1E to Raid 6.
    • CMM: Disk Drive Cache enable/disable no longer requires a feature activation key.
    • KVM: Fixed rKVM relative mode selection to properly enable relative mode.
    • SCM: Manufacturer’s name now appears correctly in the GUI for the Toshiba MBF2600RC 600GB 2.5” SAS drive.
    • SCM: Corrected issue with SCM firmware resets while creating a VD after a Storage Pool expansion operation.

    • CMM: Background tab updated to show activity while defragmenting a storage pool.

    • CMM: Clearbios.php page added to enable forced BIOS update when OEM BIOS is at the same level as standard BIOS installed on a compute module.

    • SCM: While SCM is reset, SCM diagnostics can now be generated.

    • Storage Defragmentation (Enables a user to make free space in a storage pool contiguous.). Hinweis zur Storage Defragmentation aus den Release Notes der Version 5.5: To enable this feature LUN Copy software key activation is required.
    • Unterstützung von 2.5" SSD und 2.5" SATA HDDs (erfordert AXXTM3SATA board and bracket assembly, siehe AXXTM3SATA board and bracket assembly install guide)
    • Unterstützung von gemischten 2.5" SAS/SSD/SATA Konfigurationen (gilt nicht im 3.5" MFSYS35 Gehäuse - dieses ist bei Thomas Krenn auch nicht erhältlich)

    • LUN Copy (This feature enables a user to make local copies of any LUN (virtual drive) when it is not being actively used by a compute module.)
    • MFS5520VI Dual LAN Management und rKVM Fail-Over
      • erfordert MFS5520VI Compute Module mit I/O Mezzanine card und zwei Ethernet Switche Module
      • Dual LAN Management enables a user to continue to manage the modular server system when the primary Ethernet Switch Module fails.
      • rKVM Fail-Over provides the ability for an active rKVM session to fail-over to the secondary Ethernet Switch Module in the case that the primary Ethernet Switch Module fails.
  • Behobene Fehler in diesem Release:
    • Storage Module: SCM reset on firmware error
    • Storage Module: SCM reset watchdog timeout

Version 2.7 (März 2009)

  • Neue Funktionen mit diesem Release:
    • 3.5" Dual SCM support: The dual 3.5" SCM configuration is supported in this release.
    • Local German Keyboard support: The rKVM now supports both English and German local keyboards.
    • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) v3 support: SNMP v3 is supported in the UFU v2.7 release. SNMP v3 support provides the ability to get (read) system configuration information and the ability to set the server power state on/off and to set the server identify LED. SNMP v2 support is limited to get (read-only) system configuration information. Online help has been updated to reflect changes. Note: Full system hardware management and configuration is supported via the Intel® Modular Server Control GUI only.
  • Behobene Fehler in diesem Release:
    • CMM GUI: Correct drive LED functionality to correctly indicate SP, VD drive export ready status
    • CMM GUI: Enhanced UFU process to prevent server module power on until after SCMs are ready.
    • CMM GUI: Export of events resulted in a corrupted file. Removed export to excel file as an option. Export to excel file is no longer supported.
    • CMM GUI: Sensor: Drive Cage Slot 9 temp is too high incorrectly being reported.
    • CMM GUI: Component Unfit and Firmware Update Failed error messages incorrectly logged in the event log after a BMC update.
    • CMM GUI: Dashboard incorrectly showed SCM Subsystem Unavailable during firmware update.
    • Remote KVM: KVM session fails to reconnect after removing and reinstalling Ethernet cable.
    • Remote KVM: Pressing F1 during a Remote KVM session will now bring up the remote system application help information screen.

    • 3.5" single SCM SAS or SATA storage subsystem - Mixing SAS and SATA drives in a chassis is not supported.
    • Shared LUN - This is a software key enabled feature. The following operating systems are supported:

      • SuSE* Linux Enterprise Server 10 U1 (32 bit and 64 bit)
      • VMware* ESXi 3.5 U3, VMware* ESX 3.5 U3
    • Software key support - New functionality to support additional features via a software license key.
    • Dual controller support for Suse Enterprise Linux 10 U1 - SLES 10 U1 dual controller support with fail over fail back.
    • VMWare 3.5 U3 support - Dual SCM support with fail over fail back.
    • Multi-language support for online help - Added Russian and simplified Chinese versions of help.
    • Updated system cooling - Enhanced system cooling algorithms.
    • Cooling algorithm in the EBF - The CMM EBF can now run the cooling algorithm.
    • Multi power on/off server modules - Ability to power on/off multiple server modules in one operation
    • Server failover - Ability to reassign all LUNs from one server to another and power on the target server, all in one operation. Allows a user at a remote site to quickly get a standby server going if a particular server is down.
    • Data migration from PFA drives - If a drive gets marked as Predictive Failure Alert, and if there was no spare drive for that storage pool, the new feature allows the user to start a data migration manually.
    • BIOS customization in FW bundle - We now allow OEMs to modify the BIOS using standalone utilities and package it into the FW before applying the update to the chassis.
    • Drive cache enable - Ability to turn on drive write back cache for all drives within the chassis.
    • Send test email/snmp - Allows the user to test the snmp and email settings without waiting for a failure to happen.
  • Behobene Fehler in diesem Release:
    • CMM GUI: Enhanced the power supply cooling algorithm
    • CMM GUI: Clicking on a shared drive in Internet Explorer 6 or 7 sometimes does not change selected component
    • CMM GUI: Added new policies to handle event 0xe2
    • CMM GUI: Power Supply Blank events were reported as Power supply events
    • CMM GUI: Communications test incorrectly treated non-zero IPMI result codes as failures
    • CMM GUI: GUI does not report the World Wide Number (WWN) of each Compute Module
    • CMM GUI: SNMP configuration page permits blank entries causing an invalid snmpd.conf
    • CMM GUI: hapiException when trying to assign virtual drive while a server module is unfit
    • CMM GUI: Time estimate added to storage pool expansion dialog
    • CMM GUI: The detail description for the SEL log of "SMI Timeout: Deasserted" changed to "The System Management Interrupt has been de-asserted".
    • SCM: Fujitsu SAS Drive intermittently will not be recognized by system after insertion
    • BIOS: [SMBIOS]Type 20 Starting and Ending Address are incorrect
    • Driver: MPIO driver fails to install under Windows 2008 Enterprise 64-bit SP1
